Guests David Sanborn and Phil Woods share their insights on the music, reveal their musical influences, and discuss how it all started. Credited for his hard driving sound, alto star David Sanborn is said to be one of the best known and most identifiable voices on the contemporary jazz scene. Phil Woods has established himself over many decades as one of the legends on the instrument, has influenced generations of outstanding alto senators and has recently been named to the elite class of America’s NEA Jazz Masters. Although from opposite sides of the musical fence, Phil Woods and David Sanborn separately and together created something very wonderful on this LEGENDS OF JAZZ episode.
